CityMark FCU and Luzerne County FCU have entered an agreement to merge the two credit unions together. Luzerne County recognized that they needed to find a partner to offer expanded services and branch locations throughout the Wyoming Valley and has chosen to merge into CityMark FCU. Both board of directors are in favor of this merger that will result in a stronger community player in the financial market.

What does the merger mean to members?
The merger between CityMark FCU and Luzerne County FCU will provide additional opportunities to achieve more positive member impact and value.
Expanded Member Access: After the system conversion, Luzerne County FCU members can access their accounts at any of CityMark' four (4) locations and ATMs, and the two Luzerne County FCU branches will remain open.
Same Knowledgeable and Friendly Staff: Luzerne County FCU team members will become part of the CityMark’s team and enjoy enhanced employee benefits. Long time and irreplaceable team members Dan Stempleski and Eileen Stempien will happily enjoy retirement. All other team members will be offered positions with increased responsibilities. So, you will still see the same friendly faces of Amy, Maura, Meghan, and Ashlee.

When will the merger take place?
If approved, the merger will become effective March 7th, 2025. Members will receive more information well in advance of the conversion.
Will any branches be closed?
No branches will be closing at this time. Some branch hours may be modified in the future depending on member needs. See our Branch Locations here. CityMark is building a brand new office just around the corner from Penn Place located next to the old Train Station. The branch is slated to be completed in late Spring 2025. This location will have:

How will my accounts be impacted?
You will not have to do anything for now, and your accounts will remain with Luzerne County. Your account numbers may change as a result of the system conversion(We will be adding a 88 in front of your Luzerne County account number. ex: 881234 will be a new account number at CityMark) More information will be provided closer to the system conversion and before any changes.
Will my direct deposit and payroll deductions stay the same?
Yes. It will remain the same if you have a direct deposit to your account for your paycheck, pension, social security, etc. This is also true for any payroll deduction. You will receive a merger packet with all of this information once the merger is approved.
Will my rates change?
The rates on fixed-rate loans and certificates will remain the same until the end of their existing terms. Other products will adjust as expected due to market conditions.
Will I need to get new checks and/or debit cards?
You may continue to use your current checks and debit cards without interruptions. You will be receiving a new CityMark Debit card, and checks once we merge. You will receive a merger packet with all of this information once the merger is approved.
Will my accounts continue to be federally insured?
Yes, your savings will continue to be federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration, a U.S. Government Agency, up to at least $250,000.
Do I get to vote?
Traditionally, the membership of the credit union that is being acquired has the opportunity to vote to approve the merger, not the membership of the acquiring credit union. Member of Luzerne County FCU will receive ballots in the mail starting 12/19/2024. There will be a special meeting of members to also vote. You do not have to attend the meeting to vote. Simply fill out your ballot and mail or drop off at any Luzerne County FCU office location. You can also vote below.
